Across America North Part II

Casper, Wyoming to Manitowoc, Wisconsin July 8 - 23, 2006

We're off again....

This time tomorrow (July 7) I'll be sitting in Casper, Wyoming ready to begin another leg and a half of the cross country trip. I've logged about 930 training miles, again a little short of my goal; and am pretty apprehensive about the first few days. Casper to Lusk, WY (day 1) will be about 106 miles, Lusk to Hot Springs, SD on day 2 will be another 96 and then we hit the Black Hills. My long mileage and climbing days are more than a little lacking this year. The first few days could be long, long training rides.

I'm looking forward to getting across South Dakota when we'll go through Southern Minnesota. It will feel more like home.

There'll be a rest day in Sioux Falls and I'll exit the ride in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on July 23.

The total mileage this year will be 1,260.

Look forward to having you along. Please make sure to post comments. It will make the blog more fun for everyone! Will keep it posted as long as there is an internet connection (I have my doubts about the "Covered Wagon Motel.") Talk to you from the road ~ Lisa

Lisa - We hope you had a great day riding to Lusk. It was wicked hot last year! I remember a lot of people got in the van before the end of the ride last year. I guess you rode to Hot Springs next and are seeing Mt. Rushmore soon - from Greg and Linda in Bloomington

Greg - Weather was good, just a long day for Day 1. Looks like temps will again be moderate tomorrow when we go to Hot Springs. Wish you and Linda were here!
